Here is a sampling of 4 competitors. Not picking winners here, in fact in my humble opinion only one or two of the ones below will make it to the finals, and that's not because they are not at their best.
Let's start with:
Devon Seale
The winner of the Calypso Crown in 2016 is back at it again. The song below is a masterful performance but I think that it focuses on the past too much. There was a handover of government in 2015, this is 2018, this is no time for song about that situation. People should have gone to jail already but we are still hearing calypso about how the Treasury was raped.
In terms of documenting for prosperity, this sound and the video that was created is masterful. These allegations must be recorded and accessible to the people, in case they forget. The sad part is that there is no crime if no one is prosecuted.
Anyway, listen and share your own opinion. If you have one.

Karene Ashe
One of the youngest winners of the Dimanche Gras competition, in 2011 Asche, 26, copped the coveted Calypso Monarch title, winning $2 million.
The past monarch is back again, a song with a message to the masses. Karene appeals to our ethical and moral instincts.
Karene Asche releases her single for Carnival 2018.
Song calling for divine healing for the land in these dark times......
Some soul food for the lost and lonely.

Cro Cro
Weston Rawlins... the Mighty Miget, Cro Cro telling it like it is. This is what calypso is about, addressing a topical and very typical situation.
Do you think he will win? I don't think so because he is knocking the current administration. It is their prize money, he will deliver his message but he will not win.
This is the only calypsoian who does not have a youtube channel, this song "Belated" will be performed today, Saturday February 3rd 2018. He is more on the ground down to earth. This was taken from his performance at the tent.
Cro Cro is blessed with an ingenuity and style that is unmatched. In this calypso he is not afraid of facing the reality of what is happening today in politics.
All the best to Cro Cro, he is a real, to the heart calysosian.
